There is no short supply of inspiration in the world and much like the world itself, inspiration and self motivation are a never ending cycle. An artist may simply look at a single blade of grass and be inspired to create a painting, that will inspire someone else in a new or different way. A potential astronaut may simply look up to the cosmos and find the inspiration that later drives them to explore, that inspiration creates a motivation to attain thier goals, and one day they may inspire someone else without even saying a word to them. Inspiration is funny in that it may come from something you saw, something you heard or even something you know nothing about. So, where do you find your inspirations? EASY!! Look around you! Notice people, not just what they post on Facebook, but really pay attention to what they know, how they do things, and what drives them. Pay attention to exactly why you like them. Notice things, don't just browse, but really pay attention to the details, and ask yourself what makes these things great?
Chances are at some point or another you may have been inspired and have inspired someone else without even knowing it. I am totally drawn to people that continue to inspire me in ways I never thought possible. Once, a while back, I wanted to give some people who inspired me the credits they deserve so I wrote them a sort of thank you post on my 'Kraken Whips, you into shape' Facebook page. It's important to remind our inspirations that you notice them and that each one of them, individually, make up the backbone of your success. These people or things that inspire me tend to motivate me in mutitude of ways, for instance...
My husband has been one of the biggest inspirations in my life, not only does he inspire me to just try anything, but he also is a great example of what a support system should be. He has always been willing to pick up a task for me, even if he's not sure what to do or how to do it. When I need to talk shit out he listens sure, but he also doesn't playcate my emotions if he feels that I'm out of line or over dramatizing something, he "keeps it real", for lack of a better 90s style tagline.
My incredible friend and Captain, Cookie Rumble inspired my derby track work ethic. She never fluffs through a drill and even if the drill is way to easy for her she finds a way to make it more of a challenge, just so that she's always working hard at something. She's never afraid to ask how to do something and then she just keeps doing it over and over until she masters it, even if she doesn't like doing it. Amazing!
My Coach, Speedy is my inspiration for improvement, he always asks me to push a limit I didn't know I had in me. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if he had never inspired me to constantly improve than I would most certainly lack the motivation to do so.
My good friend and the first person to teach my how to rollerskate Miss Racer McChaseHer. She is my inspiration for building knowledge and helped me understand the importance of technique. She's like my roller skating efficiancy expert. She has a brain for details and that inspires me to appriciate all the details in everyone of my inspirations.
My P.I.C. Miss Vera Toss, inspires my resourcefulness everyday. This chick could take garbage and turn it into a beautiful masterpiece. She inspires my constant need to see all perceptions from every angle and figure out how things will work best. She has an ability to foresee things in a way that could be referred to as something of a psycic ability, Noticing those details in her has helped me understand people better and has taught me a lot about myself.
Last but not least, My wonderful daughter Pixie, who inspires me to keep things in perspective. When she was 5 years old she completed an assignment that blew my mind. The assignment was to draw a picture of yourself in the space provided and to fill in the blanks. The picture she drew of herself was just that, herself in the exact dress she was wearing, no other details, no sun no bird no trees, just her. The first blank was, The most important thing about me is ___________. She wrote, "I'm living". I like __________ and __________. She wrote, "My family" and "home". I have___________. "good parts". But the most important thing about me is ______________. "I'm living". Now if that doesn't keep shit in perspective for you I don't know what will. This little girl has life figured out at age 5 and I couldn't find anything more inspirational than that. Anytime I feel like my goals are not being met at the speed and efficiancy that I would like them to be...I just remember that one little assignment.
You only have the time that you are given, what you choose to do with it isn't really that important but it should never stop you from trying, working at it, improving it, knowing more about it, understanding all aspects of it, and finally accepting it the way it is but being resourceful enough to make it work for you. When you find your inspirations and your motivation kicks in, you are likely inspiring someone else at the same time, thus we have a cycle.
